With that being said, Monday nights concert was a beautiful thang. Van Hunt and Angie Stone graced Minneapolis with the sweet sound of music. All was well, with the exception of a dusty, afro-puffed, earth rat, posted up behind me and screaming in my ear through out the entire show. All - night - loooooong - screaming excessively - “Yeeeeeeaaaaah - Okay - Woo woo! That’s right Angie! ” Even during the slow songs. I’m all about call and response, I get pumped at concerts too. But this was over the top. I swear, I wanted to turn around and smack fire from this chick. She read the look on my face and made sure to scream even louder. Jenky biaaatch! I was quietly wishing Angie would stop the show, step off of the stage and politely bust her upside the head with the microphone. SECURITY!
Anyhoo, Angie announced to the crowd that she is engaged. She’s in love . . . again. Who the mystery man is, I’m not sure. I hope it works out for her. She was wearing a nice and sparkly rock to match the rhinestones embellishing her jeans (they were dope!) She looked gorgeous and the photos I took really don’t do her any justice. Her skin is flawless. She has the most beautiful features. Her hair was on point too; loosely curled and shiny as hell. She sang her heart out and ripped through a large chunk of material from all of her albums, Black Diamond, Mahogany Soul and Stone Love. The band is awesome too. She also had an MC by the name of THC (reppin’ North Carolina) w/ her. He’s sexy and favors D’Angelo. (See pic below) This is the second concert I have attended featuring Angie Stone and I’ll keep going as long as she continues to come through.
After the show I had the opportunity to take a photo w/ Angie and do the whole “Meet and Greet” thing. (My girlfriends husband works for the radio station. I got the hook up!) Unfortunately, the photo blows! Homey didn’t know how to work my camera. Dangit!!! Angies eyes are half closed. I could (but I won’t) post the photo. That would be wrong to do my girl like that for the sake of showing off.
I also had the chance to introduce myself to Roger Guenveur Smith. He was very charming and he smelled good too. Roger is in town for the week to attend the world premier of the new independent film JUSTICE which stars Monica Calhoun [ Best Man, Players Club] as well.

Damn, can my smile get any bigger? Is that my breast rubbed up against Rogers chest? LOL!
“In Justice, Guenveur Smith plays Carter, a lawyer who’s torn between his career ambitions and his commitment to community activism, pressured by competing interests within the African American working class and the bourgeoisie. Carter launches a crusade, funded in part by his dope-dealing cousin, against corruption in the criminal justice system. But he soon falls prey to a political scandal cooked up by racist public officials and a malicious judge.” - Minneapolis City Pages.
The movie was filmed in Minneapolis and I plan to go see it in the near future so I’ll let you know the scoop. Aight? Great!

Van Hunt: what can I say? He’s dripping with funk and soul. I wasn’t disappointed. I loved every inch of his performance. He was sexy and definitely huggable, but them snug azz pants he was wearing had to go! Lol! Nuff said. But uh, I’ll let ej flavors break it down just a tad bit more. Basically, I echo his sentiments exactly. There is no sense in being redundant.
So yeah, that was my Monday evening. I have a feeling this is going to be a great summer.
