Saucy Dame Delux, Homeland Security and a bunch of Monkey Business

monkey

Oh my goodness . . . where do I begin? I’ve told this story at least 50 times already, much to the delight of my family and friends. *sarcasm*

First and foremost, I would like to apologize to all people who have visited Saucy Dame Delux and were unable to access the site. I would like for you to know that series of events leading up to the errors you see, are totally out of my control. I am just now able to address the situation.

You see, what had happend was . . .

I got an email from my webhost, the other day. I opened it and read it - it said they were SUCKAS!

But on the real, the following is not a joke or embellishment of a story. Everything I write is the gospel truth.

Around 1:00 pm Eastern time, Wednesday May 10, 2006 - webserver alexandria36 (2mhost.com) ,which holds my account for saucydamedelux.com was unplugged by The US Department of Homeland Security.

Agents entered 2mhost.com’s data center to seize the server and hard drives (main and backup), because of suspected illegal contents (they believe it’s related to child pornography). They removed the drives to analyze its contents and logs. For obvious reasons, Homeland Security has been tight lipped with the details.

Yes, that’s right people; Homeland Security has ‘ganked’ the hard drive/server from my webhost, which holds all of my sites content (emails, blog files, and everything else relative to Saucy Dame Delux). They literally pulled the plug on my site!

This not only affected my domain (site), it caused 465 other sites to go ‘down’ as well. I can only imagine the loss and inconvenience the other 465 have endured. Personally, I am devastated as I have lost 9 months worth of writing . Only ‘Uncle Sam’ has access to my blood, sweat and tears. There is a very strong possibility I will never see my archives again.

Ya’ll know how the government gets down. Homeland won’t be returning anything, to anybody, until they uncover and document whatever it is they’re looking for.

For the record, PLEASE PAY ATTENTION: This strange occurrence has nothing to do with ME or Saucy Dame Delux. I am by no means involved with the “illegal” content they are looking for. I am merely an unfortunate soul who happened to get caught up in the mix of all of this.

The past 48 hours have been very stressful for me. Yesterday, I spent a good chunk of my time contacting:

The Federal Trade Commission
The Better Business Bureau
Channel 9 News
Six Apart (Moveable Type)
and my 2mhost.com

Not sure what good has come of it, but I felt I had to do and say something.

The level of service I have received from my hosting company has been piss poor. After further research I learned that they have several unresolved complaints with the Better Business Bureau. Also, most of their “Support Team” is outsourced to India. The language barrier alone is enough to make you want to slap the shit outta someone.

They are a very elusive company (2mhost.com) . There are no contact numbers, addresses or names of corporate officers, on their website. Their only form of communication is electronic (which is slow and jenky). The contact information registered with the BBB is mostly bogus.

Moving forward: THE SHOW WILL GO ON! Saucy Dame Delux is not a wrap, by any means. I am in the process of transitioning over to a new webhost at this very moment. The GOOD NEWS is that I still have all of my photos, as well as the main template/contents for SDD.

Where I mostly took a loss is my blog (what you and I love most) and my personal email.

So, that’s what’s going down with the Saucy Dame Dizzle. It has been a very valuable lesson. I could go on for days and days just chatting about what I’ve learned from this experience. But I think I’ll leave it at this, for now. . .

*singing*

So you gotta stay tuned
Cuz there’s more to see (unbreakable)
Through the technical diffuculties (unbreakable)
We might have to take a break
But ya’ll know I’ll be back next week
I’m saying this Broad is unbreakable . . .

Also, PLEASE leave a comment or email me, angelique@saucydamedelux.com, if you have any questions or concerns.

Thanks for your support.

  9. Good Lawd! I couldn’t believe it when you sent out that first email about this matter!!
On Tuesday (5/9) night NBC aired an episode of Law and Order SVU that involved Home Land Security and Child Porn. I found it somewhat ironic that the following day your webhost is down because some douche thought it would be great post pictures of little kids. What’s even more bizzare to me is how do people ‘get off’ on that shit.
    Keep ya head up!

  12. I feel for you, Saucy.
Your blog has been an intergal part of why I blog. Your witty words, your on-point insights and zany pictures are the best on the ‘Net.

I can only hope that you get on these fools and get some true answers.

In the meantime, take your time and recover. I know that the gov’ment took your heart and soul, so you will need time to heal.

But in the interim, you also may need to consider hiring an attorney and see if your civil rights were violated in the process.

Keep spreading the word until you find some answers.

    Keep your head up.

  13. I’m sorry . . .

So many of your words, thoughts, and basically life (blood, sweat, and tears) were seized. There is always a lining in every raincloud. As you said, this is probaby a basic test; a test to keep you on your toes and to further stretch you in ways you may have been afraid to explore.

I believe in spite of it’s inconvenience some good will come of this. So, you continue to write and build and teach and help others. I know your words have brought a smile to my heart-making me want to try that much harder.

You don’t know how many people you have probably affected. What you have to give is so necessary. Don’t stop. We need you, your words, your presence in every way to exist.

Thank you, Angelique for offering us the best you have to offer (even on days when “da man” makes you feel like giving up).

    You are missed.

I am so glad that you can continue to fight the good fight. I know there are many who just don’t “get it” until it becomes a best seller or you receive gobs of awards…but writing is so crucial for you. Everyday is a muthf@*?in deadline!!! It’s that serious and I know. It is a tool for survival.

What I need from you, Angelique is to promise me you won’t stop….even when people make you second guess your decision. Just remember all the good that has come from your art. Hold that close because the only condition your art has is the one of affecting others. It never judges or weighs your merit. It is the divine inspiration of your innermost self.

  14. Phone Taps, Homeland Security and Evil Skeltor - 1:38 p.m.

“On a personal level would you mind mailing in your phone records to Washington DC every month? Essentially, that is what’s happening.”

“Imagine having your words misinterpreted and getting a knock at the door from the real Men in Black. These things do happen. Old heads to the site may remember the name Disgruntled Chica. Her web host had the door kicked in by Homeland Security where they proceeded to confiscate hard drives alleging their was child porn on the drives. Since when did Homeland Security become involved with child pornography cases.. oh, when the Homeland Security deputy was arrested for the same. ” (more . . . )
