SNAP-O-RAMA : UMAF’s 5th Anniversary Party and The Grand Opening of the Minneapolis Central Library

Happy Hump Day!

Okay, from time to time I enjoy making snide remarks about others. This is no secret. So, for the sake of checks and balances, I shall proceed with talkin’ ’snarky’ about myself, in regards to this here photo . . .

Knuckle Sandwich

All my life I’ve secretly hoped that I would one day discover I am ‘next of kin’ to a rich and famous person; a person who would save my ass from poverty and bequeath unto me a bundle of cash and unmarked bearer bonds from their death bed.

Well, that day hasn’t come . . . but damn if I don’t look like the long lost relative of Elvis Presley, mixed with a splash of Kanye West and some leftover ‘Butch’ vibes from last years Pride Festival. *dead*

This hilarious photo comes courtesy of Charles Scott McEwan, one of the artists that I met at the Art -A- Whirl this past weekend. I saw his boxing/wrestling ring and felt compelled to jump on it !

K.I.M - Keepin’ It Movin’ . . .

The Grand Opening of the Minneapolis Central Library was by far the most exciting event I attended this past weekend. It was a true delight to see so many people come together for the love of books.

Big ups to my homegirl, Mrs.Pacini who found herself and the children being interviewed by several different broadcast stations, for both the morning and evening news. It always nice to see brown faces on the televison, speaking good ‘anglish, and reppin’ for the family - considering the media has a tendency to target the most huckle-buck-coon-a-licious-nigras they can find, to comment on local/national events.

Well, well, what do we have here . . .? Ladies, he’s a nice looking brother, right? He gotta little swagger about himself. He aint afraid to wear red and give the camera something nice to look at . . . right?

Musab

Too bad I’m not a snow bunny . . . maybe then, I’d have a ‘chance’ .

That was racist, huh? I’m a bonafide HATER, huh?

It’s ALL LOVE, but I’m just saying . . .

So yeah, I fell off into the 5th Anniversary party for Underground Music and Fashion. The performances were tight and I always enjoy the venue. But, folks really need to stop putting their logos on t-shirts and calling it ‘fashion’. If that’s the case, I’mma launch a collection of tees and throw a party too. Minneapolis, come correct or don’t come at all. This is not the first time I’ve had to address this issue. Don’t make me go Joan Rivers on your ass.

UMandFashion gets an A for effort, but a D+ for originality and design. Sowwy, but this city needs SOMEONE who is willing speak up for the benefit of us all. Constructive feedback is important. Otherwise, we’ll all just be a bunch of folks walking around real mediocre; thinking we’re the shiznit, when we really aint. Not keeping it real, only hinders our growth as artists and professionals. Ya know? Tough love, baby.
