*Singing* You’re Gonna Loooove Me. Yeah, Yeah, Yeah . . .

With all out the hype surrounding Beyonces role in the soon to be classic film adaptation of the Broadway musical, Dreamgirls; who folks should really be keeping an eye on is Jennifer Hudson.

True, she has some big shoes to fill (no pun intended), taking on Jennifer Holidays role (Effie). But I’m thinking she’s the one to pull it off and become a SUPASTAR. Let’s hope so. Aint she just the cutest? Chi-town represent! I’d rather play the role of Effie and eat like a normal person, than go on a cereal diet like our girl Young Bey-Z. But that’s just my opinion.

Lastly, read up on what Cheryl Lee Ralph had to say about Beyonces role in Dreamgirls, in a very candid interview with Rocka.Candy.

  2. Nice clip of the film.

But, I can’t help to think, does this really need to be a full length feature? If so, why guise it with the backdrop of the play DREAMGIRLS, instead of a more real life depiction of what/who they are actually emulating? The Supremes. So why not just do the damn thing from the beginning? I can understand the reasoning with all the publishing, licensing and royalty legalities the film would have to negotiate with Ms.Diana. Not to mention, you know she would want to be in the actual movie herself some how. So this film saves them the headache. But still, when it does come out everyone will associate the movie with Diana Ross and The Supremes [like we are right now]. I just hope when the actresses performances are discussed, viewers and critics alike allow them to keep the integrity and character of the women they are portraying. To resist temptation and not imbue them with the supreme [no pun intended] embodiment of another trio of young talented starlets… take your pick.
