Because Inquiring Minds Want To Know . . .

What is a “Lace Front” wig? Lace Front wigs are units that have strands of hair individually knotted to a nylon or polyester mesh material that is constructed along the frontal area of the wig (some full cap and/or outer perimeter). The natural looking foundation is undetectable and disappears as it touches the skin. It is structured to simulate hair growing out of the skin. (source)

Lace Front Wigs are one of the hottest and latest trends hitting the beauty scene. Celebrities such as Beyonce, Tyra Banks and RuPaul and Mary J Blige, have been rockin’ “lace fronts” for many, many moons. [And there are plenty of white celebrities who loveth the lace front too]. LFW’s are by far the most realistic type of wig availible on the market today. From my understanding the cost to obtain and maintain a custom fitted lace-front wig, is a “grip” [$$] - Which may be one reason why the trend has been kept within celebrity circles for so long.

However, as with any high end beauty trend - the “cat has been let out of the bag” and more affordable wigs are being made availible to the masses. I reckon that soon and very soon you will see the common neighborhood diva out at the club, swingin’ her lace front mane to and fro [It might be me].

“Lace Fronts” are heaven sent for anybody who is enduring hair loss due to an illness, the results of chemotherapy radiation treatments, or even for no apparent reason. A lace wig can add realistic-looking hair to their head and boost confidence. This type of wig, stunningly, can look and feel like real hair if it is of high quality and applied correctly. The only real issue with a “lace front” is that it cannot hold up to daily wear and tear as well as a wig made of synthetic fibers.

The following clips will help give you some insight into the application and removal process of a LFW. Enjoy!

  3. it is so true how a good number of people still don’t know what a LFW is. I saw some high siddity chick with one on the other week and she obviously has not viewed this video. Her “lace” was not cut properly and popping up off her forehead!

  5. That really helped!! I have been doing research on lfw and this really cleared some things up. Where did you buy your lfw? It looks good and you’re a pretty girl! Also, we have the same complexion, did you get the lace or the scalp tinted? Thanks! Later!

  10. You are definitely on point with the info, however there are a few key points to mention when choosing a lace wig:
There are some factors to consider to get your most “natural” look.
    1. Decide the lace color that works best for you.
    http://www.jdcwigs.com/lace-color-help

    2. For your first lace wig choose a natural hair color for yourself. If you are naturally a brunette, dont choose a blond wig if you want to feel “natural”

    3. Texture… If you want sliky straight white girl hair, you can order chinese remy. This can look great, but you will likely want to get a YAKI texture for your first wig. This will create a texture of a relaxed natural hair, but will probably be a little be shiner and softer than your actual hair.

    4. APPLICATION - make sure you give yourself a few hours for your first attempt to apply your lace wig, and having a girlfriend handy to help can make it a bit easier too. You wont need someone everytime, but it takes some practice to perfect.
Also, choose a high quality lace wig adhesive like ULTRA HOLD or PRO FLEX tape

Thanks again and I hope this helps out more Newbies out there!

  11. WARNING- DO NOT GIVE JDC WIGS ANY MONEY. They have taken $837.08 off me and sent me nothing and I am disabled. They will not answer the telephone or emails. Its been four months.
Don’t have anything to do with them. You will loose your money like I have.

  12. I ordered a wig from JDC paid them $499 and have never heard from them again. I have begged them for a refund and explained that I am recovering from cancer but they dont care. They are evil people.I agree with a cassa- DO NOT deal with them they will rob you.
