This was a huge gamble, but if I know anything I know my faith. And I know my folks - and that’s why I did it. If you give it a chance I know you’re going to love it. This has never been done before, not like this, but I know it will work. I’m always asking ya’ll to do something, buy this book, pay to see my movie, buy a ticket to the play, buy the DVD. Well, now I can say this won’t cost you anything, just a little of your time. - Tyler Perry
Tyler Perry is a person who understands the spirit of entrepreneurship. He embraces his blessings as they come along, rather then blocking them. He recognizes that all things can be accomplished through hard work and determination. His faith is strong and his vision is clear. This, my dear friends, is a recipe for SUCCESS. These are the traits that will take you from being homeless and sleeping in your car to being a well recieved millionaire with two successful Hollywood films [Diary of a Mad Black Woman and Madeas Family Reunion], with more on the way. This is how you become the recipient of top honors and earn your place in BusinessWeek.com’s ROI (Return of Investment) Awards - passing up the likes of Tom Cruise and Will Smith [Of course as with any great strides made by colored folks, racism and controversy tends rears its ugly head]. It is also how you’d go about having a string of SOLD OUT gospel plays, book deals, a guest appearance on the Oprah Winfrey Show and the opportunity to create, write and direct a BRAND NEW television series entitled, House of Payne.
That’s right party people, Tyler Perry aims to come to a televsion near you, nationwide. Yup. Are you’re abs ready for the gut busting laughter? Do you have a tissue box on deck for the joyful tears to come? If not, I suggest you reconcile yourself and get with the program.
THE SYNOPSIS? Find out for yourself - Watch clips of episodes 1 thru 5 and 6 thru 10 .
At this point the the test pilot for this show has only aired in 10 cities Atlanta, Baltimore, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Miami, New York City, Philly, Raleigh and DC.
I wanted this show to be what my movies are, funny but serious with life lessons in them. Like my plays, but for TV. Do you remember those shows like “All in the Family”, “Good Times”, “Rosanne”, and “The Cosby Show “? The shows that everybody wanted to watch because they not only made you laugh, but they had some heart. Well, this is one of those shows with heart. - Tyler Perry
View the clips and share your thoughts. If you have seen the episodes in there entirety - what do you think? Does House of Payne has what it takes to stay on the airwaves? Why or why not?
