“Media That Matters” Film Festival . . .

Kiri Davis, age 16, Urban Academy - ” I wanted to make a film that explored the standards of beauty imposed on today’s black girls. How do these standards affect her self-esteem or self-image. Through making this film I learned a lot about where some of these standards might stem from.

Please take 7 minutes of your day to watch the following clip. It is worth it. This extends to all people of any ethnicity. WE can influence the youth, person by person, image by image and lyric by lyric. . .

I also suggest you watch the rest of the other short clips. Video #16 was filmed in Minneapolis and addresses military recruiting tactics in high schools. To all of my NORTHSIDE RIDERS, PEEP the Video . . . But um, I don’t want to hear anything about the music snippets at the end. DOH!
