Where will I be next Saturday? At The Gathering LIVE! - having a loooooovely time on the red carpet and rubbing elbows with all of my sisters. And you already know the Saucy Dame Dizzle is officially a designated paparazzi chick and all around “scene maker”. *ha ha* Here’s the scoop on how it’s going down . . .
There’s a little less than two weeks left before the biggest event the Twin Cities has ever seen comes to the Historic State Theatre in downtown Minneapolis.
Saturday, October 14, 2006 will be a night to remember as American Family Insurance proudly presents The Gathering LIVE! This night will UNITE women in entertainment with the women of the Twin Cities to take a stand against domestic violence against women. This night will INSPIRE us to feel powerful and create positive steps for our future. This night will EMPOWER everyone to stand up and make a difference!
Grammy Award-Winning, INDIA.ARIE headlines this powerful night with a live concert and will perform hits from her two double-platinum albums “Acoustic Soul” and “Voyage To India” , as well as debut songs from her current 2006 release, “Testimony: Vol. 1, Life & Relationship”.
The evening will continue as an all-star female cast deliver powerhouse monologue performances on stage that will encourage, educate, embrace and celebrate women’s empowerment and spirit.
Multi-talented superstars of stage, screen and television, VIVICA A. FOX, star of Lifetime Networks’ “Missing”, and the hit ABC reality show, “Dancing With The Stars” . Also joining this stellar cast is TRACEE ELLIS ROSS, co-star of The CW Network hit series “Girlfriends” , now in its 7th season. Along with CLAUDIA JORDAN, model #1 on NBC’s top-rated “Deal Or No Deal” and co-host of the Style Network’s “Modern Girls Guide To Life” .
Also live on stage will be Twin Cities’ own MISS SHANNAN, co host of the popular B96 morning show, PROTEGE, HEAT, and ISIS rounding out this all-star, female cast of top Hollywood and Twin Cities talent.

Sharon Smith-Akinsanya, CEO and president of the Rae-Mackenzie Group, and producing partner, Tonya Blackstone, owner of Slammin Graphix imagined what it would be like to create the most powerful, awe-inspiring celebration of womanhood the area has ever known. Sitting at a table in Minneapolis, these two women began planning an experience that has evolved into The Gathering LIVE!
“This will be a fun evening full of information and entertainment,” expresses Smith-Akinsanya. While Blackstone adds, “It’s critical that we shine a light on domestic violence against women”.
