Dear World,
I case you aint knowin’ — I am a crazy.sexy.cool, chic from the 612 — Minneapolis to be exact [“North Side Rider” to be even more exact]. So, you already know I’ve gotta rep the everlasting classic “Minneapolis Sound”, brought to you by none other than your “Royal Badness”, Prince (but of course), Morris Day and The Time (the coolest mf’rs on the planet), Vanity 6, Appollonia, Sheila E, Mint Condition, Alexander O’Neal, Cherrelle and The Jets (Remember them? Yes, they are from Minnesota).
Now, before you get your keyboarding fingers all set to tell me what I should’ve added to the playlist . . . PLEASE keep in mind that the particular songs selected are some of my personal favorites – songs that hold sentimental value and spark many pre-teen and teeny-bopper memories. Aight?
There is no way I can include all of the funky, original, soulful, electronic, rock & roll, rhythm & blues and all around unpredictable music that has been created in this “Northern Exposure” of a place we lovingly call the “Twin Cities” — in one sitting. One playlist doesn’t even begin to scratch the surface . . . especially considering some of the songs cooked up in the 80’s were like 10 minutes long — per serving. Damn.
There’s just too much to name and claim. (But I will eventually make my way around the discography. Okay?) Just consider this particular session “Minneapolis.Love Vol.1”

Talk about the 80’s. All of these were “sure shots.” The Jets? My pops has them on 45’s. The whole family is Brother and Sister. Tell me you can’t remember most, if not all of the lyrics to each of these songs.

this is my first time listening and let me tell you this radio blog is all the way the business!!!!!!! i live for prince’s “kiss”. seriously, when i was a kid, i played my prince single record on my little pink record player ALL DAY. and all night i chilled with the jets. Love Them! oh, and now that i’m getting my grown woman on….nasty girl and i wanna be your lover are my theme songs. get it saucy dame!
