Good grief Charlie Brown . . . if it’s not Homeland Security, it’s the music mafioso, Sony BMG. Whatever the case, the staff (Me, Myself & I ) at SaucyDameDelux.com keep things interesting. Never a dull moment around this camp. Unless I’m not blogging. I’m such a trouble maker/drama magnet. *ha ha*
They came to pay me a little email visit.

Dear Ms. Kingsbury:
I write on behalf of Burgundy Records, a label of SONY BMG Music Entertainment (“SONY BMG”). SONY BMG, or one of its business units, is party to exclusive recording agreements with the artist Chaka Khan, pursuant to which SONY BMG owns the exclusive copyright in many of her recordings.
It has recently come to our attention that your site, saucydamedelux, at http://www.saucydamedelux.com/weblog/2007/07/chaka_khan.html, allows visitors to play the Chaka Khan musical recording “Disrespectful.”
This unauthorized use and exploitation of our master recording violates our rights. Accordingly, unless you have information to the contrary, SONY BMG demands that you immediately cease and desist from distributing this musical recording in any form. Additionally, SONY BMG demands that you cease and desist from distributing in any form any other recordings by SONY BMG artists. Please confirm that you have complied with this demand.
Note that this is not a complete statement of all of SONY BMG’s claims and is written without prejudice to, or waiver of, SONY BMG’s claims, rights and/or remedies, all of which are expressly reserved.
We await your prompt response. I can be reached at 777-777-7777 or at ———-
Sincerely,
Litigation Counsel

My response . . .
Dear Sony BMG,
My apologies. I received an email with a press kit from a representative at [Insert Reputable Marketing Company Name Here]. I assumed the linkage for the songs were to be made available to the public to help boost awareness about Chakas new album, “Funk This”. “Exploitation” is a harsh word that should not used in the context of SaucyDameDelux.com promoting on the behalf Ms.Chaka Khan, based on an unsolicited email from your PR person.
Just FYI - The song has been available on my site for less than 24 hours. It has been removed as you’ve requested.
Also, in the future I would appreciate if you send all correspondence to angelique@saucydamedelux.com. The address you have sent your email to is my personal email address.
Angelique Kingsbury -

How they got my personal email address is beyond me. . .
I receive marketing emails/press releases frequently. I’ve streamed music before as well. If they didn’t want me to feature the song “Disrespectful”, then why in the hell did they send it to me in two different file formats? It’s all good though. I’ve honored their wishes and will keep it moving. I would never intentionally disrespect the grand diva, Ms.Chaka Khan.
The End.

Dog! Don’t mess with the royalties and legalities of the “industry.” Seriously, they have nothing to do but bother people like you over dumb trivial minute things.
But, when I was working for JazzTimes magazine I got into huge trouble for using a photograph of Miles that wasn’t licensed. How they got your address? It’s the recording industry, they will find you.
