Keeping in the theme of sisters gettin’ ours and getting it good, I’d like to recommend another useful book to add to your collection: The Get’ Em Girl’s Guide to Unlocking the Power of Cuisine.
Overview:
“With sassy, city-girl wit, the self-proclaimed princesses of a new urban culinary lifestyle share a collection of over 120 of their favorite recipes that are sure to complement every stage of a growing romance. Whether you’re planning an intimate dinner for two with your honey or a down home feast reminiscent of his Mama’s Sunday dinner, The Get’ Em Girl’s Guide to Unlocking the Power of Cuisine is filled with helpful advice from stocking your pantry and shopping for basic kitchen tools to tips on proper setting and wine selections. The Get ‘Em Girl’s Guide to Unlocking the Power of Cuisine has the recipes that you’ll want to cook and eat but is about much more than the food; it’s about investing time in yourself and your relationship. Going after what you want in unconventional ways. Thinking outside the box- and going out and getting what’s yours!”
Personally, I don’t buy into the theory “The way to a mans heart is through his stomach.” — but I do believe that both men and women should have skills from the window to the wall, back around to the kitchen and boudoir. Skills are important. Nobody wants to date, mate and relate with a person lacking skills. Or at least I don’t.
Having a knack for creating a romantic atmosphere with good food and is always a feather in ones cap — providing the person you are sharing your skills with is worth the effort. I’ll be damned if I feed a ‘jive turkey’, my tasty food until he falls asleep in a reclining chair. Ya dig?
One thing I appreciate about this book is that it’s authored by three young women I can see myself hanging out with on any given Sunday. We all know Patty Labelle can throw down in the kitchen, but I also like to know what my peers are working with.
The recipes are culinary classics that aren’t too fussy and don’t require an extra spendy shopping lists. I don’t know about your neck of the woods, but the price of groceries in Minnesota is ridiculous. Thus, another reason why you have to be pretty doggone special for me to warm up the oven.
Check out the website and be sure to sign up for their newsletter that includes free recipes.
Have fun! Men, ya’ll can cop the book too, considering many of ya’ll are on the metrosexual tip these days…
