Salt & Pepa fans will enjoy reading the the hip hop divas new interview at VH1’s “CELEBreality” Blog. Salt addresses some of the reasons why she gracefully bowed out of the spotlight — one of them being a battle with bulimia. Pepa talks about embracing her sexuality and her thoughts on religion. Both speak out on the present state of women in hip hop and answer the question that S&P fans want to know: Where the heck is Spinderella?
Good stuff, ya’ll…
Check it out:
And just for extra, C&D gives us a peek from all angles at Pepas new nose. *shaking head* Pepa looks good, she really didn’t need “go there”, but whatever. I still have a major B-Girl admiration for the lady pioneers of Hip Hop.
Brother Ali & Alexander O’Neal: MPLS LUV the Old/New School Way…

No doubt about it, I am an admirer and supporter of Minneapolis’ home grown talent, Brother Ali. That’s why I’m tickled beige to find his new video, “Take Me Home” over at the DC based (soon to be world wide) SOULBOUNCE.COM.
It’s a great video if you ask me. Once again, Ali makes it clear that he is ‘everyday people’ and far removed from the ballerific stereotypes you find on the radio and in alot of other videos. I also dig the vid because I recognize everyone in the backdrop (shouts to the cast!) as well as the various locations it was filmed — one of them being a Minneapple classic, the Band Box Diner.
A little bit of 612 Trivia: The Box Band Diner was also featured in way back in the diz-ay on Alexander O’Neal and Cherrelles 80’s hit video, “Innocent”. 20 years later, it’s still a ‘cut’ in my book. Good music done the Midwestern way. Gimme some MORE!
Run the footage below…

Hey ya!
Here’s a thought:
Instead of plunking down $25 bucks to read about who’s zoomin’ who in the “Industry” and how much irresponsible sex they’ve had (please, no more tell-all books, ya’ll.) — I’d rather fill my head with something more inspiring and beneficial to my everyday life. Amy DuBois Barnetts’ guideline to the fab life, Get Yours! The Girlfriends Guide to Having Everything You’ve Dreamed of and More is the direction I see myself going in….
Jamaican Guhl: The Artwork of Tamara Natalie Madden

Hey Ya’ll,
Meet Tamara Natalie Madden. Born in Jamaica and currently residing in Atlanta, she is a lovely Leo with a passion for literature and poetry. More than just a pretty face with an art easel, Maddens life has presented its share of challenges. The following excerpt is quoted from her bio:
“In 1997, Tamara was diagnosed with a rare genetic kidney disease called IGA Nephropathy. Over the next few years she would watch her body deteriorate while she tried to maintain sanity amidst all of the toxins collecting in her body. In order to maintain some semblance of normalcy, she began to create again. In 2000, Tamara took a trip home to Jamaica in hopes of reuniting with family and finding a long lost brother. She had no idea that the trip would save her life. Her brother, who she had not seen since she was six, offered his kidney to her upon seeing the condition that she was in. This amazing offer was consummated in 2001 with Tamara undergoing a successful kidney transplant. That year she participated in her first art exhibition, making good on the promise that she had made to herself long ago to become a professional fine artist.”
Art is healing. Art nurtures the soul. Art changes peoples lives. I love art and artistic people. Thus the reason why I enjoy sharing artists profiles with you. . . .

Karrine Steffans Gets CLOWNED by Jamie Foxx & The Gang

So, about Karrine Steffans and her latest publication, The Vixen Diaries — I haven’t bought the book yet but I’ll be copping it this evening at a cool 40% off (my BFF has a Barnes and Noble membership. LOL!)
Based on current interviews I’ve listened to and a few excerpts I’ve read, honey chile is…is… is…
Hmmm… I’m at a loss for the appropriate words. I’ll have to get back to you on that.
Until then, check out this here clip of Foxx going heads up with Steffans on his Sirius Satellite radio show The Foxxhole.
Funny, funny, funny. Sad, sad, sad …*shakes head* She should’ve known better than to try and do battle with the King of Clownin’ folks. Didn’t she learn anything from Doug Williams ???
Lesson of the Day: Never go on someones radio show, knowing that you are in for a verbal roasting and they are 10 times funnier than you. Especially if your name is Karrine “Superhead” Steffans.
I recommend that you not listen to the the audo while at work or within the range of children (obviously)…
