The Devil Is A LIAR.

Damn you “NoNo” for sending me this messed up video (see below). It’s more jacked up than the code on your Myspace page. *teasing*

Not sure how much of what is said in this video is true, but I do know watching it gave me the chills. Regardless of the validity of this mans psychotic confession, the bottom line is there ARE people in the world who share his twisted and evil mentality…MURDERERS, ready, willing and waiting to slay you with an orgasm. This clip serves a reminder as to why people need to take their sexual encounters more seriously…and always, always, protect yourself as much as possible. I’m not trying to put a damper on any ones weekend plans…but you really should watch this and think about it.

I was saving the following information for a post closer to the month of May, but since I reviewed the “AIDS MAN” video…I think I’mma post it up…right about now…

A few weeks ago I decided that 2008 would be the year that I’d begin my mission of doing something ‘good’ for the community, something selfless, something positive. It’s true, I haven’t done enough to give back to my peoples, I recognize my shortcomings and I want to make a difference. I saw on the news that the annual Minnesota AIDS Walk is approaching and decided to participate this year. I registered and I’m ready to collect pledges.

As far as walking and asking for donations go, it’s a woman show. No team, just me, my sneakers and 6 miles.

My initial thoughts were to keep my ‘Minnesota AIDS Walk‘ post somewhat light. I had come up with the title “Saucy Dame For Change: Fighting the Good Fight One Step at a Time.“, which feels rather silly after watching the video. I don’t want to be a ‘downer‘, because I know people tend shy away from and sometimes even cringe when the topic of HIV/AIDS is brought up. Noooobdy wants to talk about it. Mention breast cancer and it’s all good. People will run and wear pink all day long (not that anything is wrong with that). But mention the words AIDS an folks get silent. Even though WE ALL KNOW someone or some people living with the virus.

I’ll spare you a sermon from my soapbox. We all know the scoop. All the information we need is within our reach. You certainly don’t need a lecture from me about how to handle your business. But you must agree that a time when many important issues demand our attention, we know that HIV still poses a serious threat, especially to those most vulnerable in our society. And even more so when you have people like the “AIDS MAN” spreading the virus on purpose.

With that being said:

I am asking you to PLEASE SUPPORT ME as I walk for the 21st Minnesota AIDS Walk. Visit my personal page and pledge your financial support to my efforts. All donations are fully tax-deductible. I hope you will join me in a fight that we simply cannot afford to lose. It is easy to pledge, as simple as ordering shoes and buying your favorite iTunes online.

AIDS WALK

For the record, I am NOT trying to scare or guilt anyone into pledging. I’mma be walking and raising money either way, come rain or shine. My goal is $500.00 but I’d like to do much more.

  4. Minnesota & HIV/AIDS

North Minneapolis has one of the highest per capita rate of HIV/AIDS infection in the United States. Young people of color living in the heart of north Minneapolis are at greater risk of infection than virtually any other demographic group in the state. Their ethnicity, their place of residence, their age, and their low income are all risk factors. Some pertinent facts from the Minnesota Department of Health:

*Although African-Americans represent only 3.4% of Minnesota’s population, they account for 22% of the state’s adult and adolescent HIV infections.

*African-Americans have the highest proportion of persons infected with HIV/AIDS among all native-born ethnic groups in Minnesota, more than ten times the rate of white Minnesotans.

*Over time, young people between 13 and 24 years of age have accounted for an increasing share of new HIV/AIDS infections in Minnesota, increasing from 10% in 1990 to 17% in 2005.

*Persons of color account for a disproportionate number of new HIV infections among [Minnesota] adolescents and young adults. Among young men, of new HIV infections diagnosed between 2004 and 2006, African Americans accounted for 28%…. Among young women, African Americans [accounted for] 32%.”

*Low-income people are at greater risk of HIV infection, and African Americans are more likely to be poor than any other demographic group in Minnesota.
