D’Angelo, 8 Years Later…

SPIN Magazines’ (Aug ‘08) article featuring the tragic story of D’Angelo (as told by some of his closest friends) is a MUST READ for all who appreciate his talent and miss his presence as much as I do…

“Thanks to ‘that’ video, D’Angelo was poised for superstardom, and the R & B Renaissance he led was about to change the world. Instead, he fell into a spiral of substance abuse and arrests and virtually disappeared. Eight years later, his friends and colleagues reveal where he’s been and what it’s going to take to bring him back.”

  4. Darn shame. Some people can handle the celebrity status and others can’t. If I ever see him objectifying a woman, I’m going to kick his chunky butt. He knows what it feels like now.

  6. i don’t give a damn about what he looks like today…. as long as he can still sing the same, that is all that matters! just like lauryn hill.. she doesn’t dress and look the same, but if she can still sing, who cares! it’s not a beauty contest and i see how beauty plays a big part in the music industry.. it sucks because people with real talent are often overlooked because they don’t have ” the look”… so if d’angelo comes back I will be the first of many to buy his album.. regardless of what he looks like now!

  7. Lauryn Hill, D’Angelo… IF … BIG IF … they every choose to come back into the public eye… the public eye will shed tears of joy… same thing with Anita Baker.

Talent is talent… However, it is possible to wait too long… and damage yourself too much. Case in point, Whitney Houston…too much harm has been done to the voice box and the body…
