Saucy Snippets - Hit The Deck!

Uh…just a Saucy Snippet featuring your girl, the Saucy Dame Dizzle (lookin’ real regular) spending a few moments atop the observation deck at the historical Foshay Tower. It was hella windy up thurr.

The outdoor observation of the Foshay is one of only a few public viewing spots like it in the nation. It’s somewhat like the Empire State Building, only on a smaller scale. What at one time was the tallest building in the city, is now only waist-high in a city with 60-story buildings.

The Foshay has an interesting history. It was completed just months before the 1929 stock market crash and had (according to Wikipedia) a fantastic dedication ceremony:

“Wilbur Foshay invited 25,000 guests to the dedication ceremony and provided all-expenses paid trips to many who included cabinet members, senators and congressmen. Half nude dancers entertained. Each guest received a gold pocket watch. The military gave 19-gun salutes. John Philip Sousa conducted music, including “Foshay Tower-Washington Memorial March” a march he wrote for the occasion. Foshay presented Sousa with a check for US $20,000.”

Hmmm…$20,000 back in 1929. That’s ALOT of ‘lettuce’ to pen and conduct a song. Hell, that’s alot of money today.

Shortly afterwards Sousa’s check bounced and soon after that the building went to the creditors and poor Wilbur Foshay landed in jail and never was able to live in the apartment he built for himself on the 28th and 29th floors.

Aw, so, so, tragic.

Many moons, millions of investment dollars and skyscrapers later, the Foshay Tower is officially on and poppin’ — again. But only if you’ve got the cash flow to “ball out”. Funny how the newly renovated Foshay made its debut on the eve of the $700 Billion Dollar Bailout. Will history repeat itself? Let’s hope not.

i don’t have much to say, except…

just once, i’d like to take comfort in experiencing true and reciprocal love.

if not this life time, when?

has the creator placed me on an indefinite “time-out”?

talkin’ about — “nooo love for angelique kingsbury. not a smell, nor taste — she doesn’t deserve it“.

it’s not fair. seems like i’ve been forced into the corner to face a brick wall while cupid taunts me, or ignores me altogether.

Good Times @ The Fifth Element

So… I’ve uploaded a few of the funnier moments from Jake Ones “White Van Music” Album Release/Meet and Greet. There is more video to upload - which I intended on doing this evening, but apparently I’ve exceeded my weekly limit on Vimeo.

If the flicks get a little bit ‘Blair Witchy’, forgive me. My arms were getting tired. Respect due to the real video crews out there in the world.

Anyhoo,

Brother Ali shared a tour bus story about Rakim (The God), pulling back bunk curtains and talking about “Going to War” (in the Hip-Hop sense). Funny!

Yo, Ali - We’re going to war tomorrow, man- Rakim

Rhymesayers own, I Self Devine slowed up the flow of his in-store performance at the Fifth Element in response to lackluster crowd participation — which sadly, is typical Minnesotan behavior.

In the process, Brother Ali hipped ‘I Self‘ to the reason why the audience was intimidated to participate in ‘call and response’ — mostly due to the white audience knowing better than to shout out the ‘N’ word. That, and the fact that they are “Minnesota Nice” .

Yup, yup, you betcha.

Everybody had a good laugh and they kept it movin’.
