A Recap with ‘Snaps’- The MIA Bollywood Bash

Hello Lovelies,

I hope your Labor Day was, well, labor less. I know mine was. I chillaxed for 3 days straight. The RNC weekend turned out to be somewhat of a dud if you ask me. The city wasn’t nearly as crackin’ as I imagine Denver was. Hurricane Gustov done put a smack down on the GOP. Sooo sad, toooo bad. I did however make it over the ever so luxe, W Hotel Minneapolis (it is definitely a standout piece of real estate - ultra sexy. I need to have “relations” in that hotel IMMEDIATELY. *lol*) — but that’s different recap for another time.

Anyhoo,

I was going to write a little ditty on how fab the MIA Bollywood Bash was, but Minneapolis St.Paul Magazine wrote a nice blurb which pretty much summed up my thoughts. No need in repeating what has already been well written, right?

Bollywood Bash at the MIA

Who: Members and friends of The Circle—the TC’s sexiest art aficionados.
What: The Minneapolis Institute of Arts “Bollywood Bash“.
When: Saturday, August 23
Where: MIA Courtyard
Why: Because MIA understands art—and the art of the party.

“In these troubled economic times, what better way to drown your sorrows than by snatching up a coveted $75 ticket to the MIA’s annual summer Circle bash, where the music and inhabitations flow as freely as the booze at the open bar. No disrespect to the sexy silver foxes of the world, but you have to love a party that sets an age limit—and that runs out of the party’s signature mango martini an hour into the night. The Minneapolis Institute of Arts “Circle” events (for those 21–44 with very few exceptions, sorry darlings 45 and over) have a rep for bringing in a crowd so pretty it puts the museum’s Picassos to shame, and this year’s Bollywood–themed bash was no exception. The question on the tip of everyone’s tongue—Where did you get that—as a parade of ladies sporting stunning, belly-baring, often authentic saris put the sans-Sari crowd to shame (not that the mix of stylish linen suits and perfect summer cocktail dresses weren’t easy on the eyes as well). Endless bar, endless eye candy, amazing night.” (source)

The Foshay Soiree - A Glamourous Affair

A historical landmark and the second tallest concrete skyscraper, next to the Empire State Building, Minneapolis’ own Foshay Tower re-opens this month as the W Minneapolis hotel.

Art deco architecture, a 27th floor “sky bar”, an observation deck w/ the original telescopes, original marble pillars and terrazzo floors, neon lights, spectacular skyline views and fully wired technology are just a few of the attractive features the new hotel has to offer.

“Swanky” is the word when speaking on the $75 million dollar investment. “Eye Popping”, “Amazing” and “Lavish” are other words being used in reference. I’d like to add “Off-the-chain.” to the list.

‘Girl 6′ In This Bitch - Purple Makes Me Feel Kinky

Fashionistas and stylistas who have done their homework already know, from deep violets to light lavenders, purple reigns as this seasons (Fall ‘08) “it” color. There has been no shortage of regal hues in fashion blogs and style magazines alike. Personally, I don’t plan to go ape for grape, but I DO plan on picking up the following items…

HOT! HOT! HOT!
Every girl needs at least one pair of booties this Fall season and these here leather, Prince Rogers Nelson inspired, metallic joints are the one for me! Toss a plum-berry-burple, snake skin, handbag into the mix and I’m straight. I don’t need anymore purple in my life…well maybe not. A ruffled blouse might be nice. All I know is strutting my stuff in purple, 4 inch, shoe booties is something I feel like I need to be doing. It’s a fantasy off mine. *LOL*

Note: I probably wouldn’t wear the two items at the same time. That might be doing too much. I aint trying to kill nobody. :!:

By the way - Did you know that “Your Purple Badness”, Prince, has a new project coming out Sept 30th?

21 Nights is a photographic essay and CD of after-hours jams that chronicle the artist’s 21 consecutive sold-out London shows in 2007 — poetry and lyrics included. Visit Housequake for a sneak preview.

The MIA Bollywood Bash - I’ll Be Thurr

“Art and party lovers alike will unite in a swirl of vibrant color this Saturday evening at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts’ Bollywood Bash. This annual summer event is hosted by The Circle, a group which offers the young, hip, and art-interested (ages 21-44) a chance to experience art, meet new people, and connect with the MIA in a whole new way.

While one does not have to be a connoisseur of fine art to attend, you cannot help but miss the beauty of stylish party goers flirting on one of the MIA’s reaching spiral staircases or the well dressed couples sipping complimentary martinis under priceless paintings. While the first hour or two of this party is all about the socializing, soon the beat of the DJ draws the crowd into the main ballroom, where the dance floor pulses and the party really gets started. ”
——
I’ve created a new category at SAUCYDAMEDELUX.COM. It’s titled “Things I’d Like To Do“. Often I learn of events an activities that peek my curiosity/interest, but end up not attending because I’ve talked myself out of going.

Several reasons for I’ve used in the past for not attending:

A. I’m sure to be the brownest, and most ‘urban‘ person in the room.

B. Damn, it would be nice to have a friend (or a date - but that would be asking for a miracle, right?) to turn to and comment on how great or wack the event is.

C. Sometimes, I just don’t have the dividends to make the fun ‘pop off’, like it should.

Please note: The above reasons have been significantly simplified in order to reduce writing and reading time. Just know that each one could easily hold it’s weight in a lengthy blog post.
